INFO
The Rotary Connection was a psychedelic rock/R&B out fit that was based in Chicago. They were originally discovered by Marshall Chess, the son of Chess label founder, Leonard. He was starting a new label called Cadet Concept Records and was looking for artists. “Like A Rolling Stone” was typical of their output at the time. They took the classic Dylan song and twisted it to meet their style. The single was unsuccessful but remains interesting. They would produce six albums during their time with the label but would only reach the singles charts just once with 1970′s “Want You To Know,” which barely made the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE POP CHART when it reached number 96 during its two week stay. There albums were much more successful as their 1968 self titled release reached number 37. After the goup broke-up, lead singer Minnie Ripperton would have a number one single hit with “Lovin’ You.” Rotary Connection and their “Like A Rolling Stone” remain a nice artifact of the psychedelic era. Released in 1967
