New all woman Soul Jazz with attitude and a message! 'The Common Woman' is a basement revamp of Herbie Hancocks 'Mayden Voyade' with flute, resitation and and a lovely piano buildup. Flip it and you have the polical soulful 'Degradation' including conga breakdown! Rare replica reissue from the very hard to find 1974 original. Comes with jacket and limited to 500!
Side A: The Common Woman 05:02 (Virginia Rubino - Judy Grahn)
Side B: Degradation 02:32 (Bobi Jackson)
This 45 is an outcome of these four women forming a band for creating, performing and recording an "original"
sound track to be used in a film by Donna Deitch named Woman to Woman
Side A "The Common Woman (Nadine)" with the words taken from a poem by Judy Grahn, is read by Sandi Ajida
and the music composed and arranged by Virginia Rubino (piano and vocals). Sandi also plays the congas and percussions, Cyndy while Bobi Jackson plays the bass.
Side B "Degradation" was composed and arranged by Bobi while the backgroud vocals and instruments are the same as those on the "Common Woman"
This is the first recording appearance of "High Risk" and is a preview of more to come. Enjoy!
